David Lee Bennett

David Lee Bennett, 78, of Cayuga, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Union Hospital in Clinton. He was born March 8, 1939 in Eugene, IN to the late Jesse Adam and Olive Bernice (Jewell) Bennett. He married Gloria Jean Brender May 2, 1959 in Georgetown, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his son, Tom Bennett of Cayuga, daughter, Anna Marie Bennett of Clinton, siblings Phyllis Smith of Dallas, TX, Charles Fred Bennett of Oakwood, IL, Jack Bennett of Cayuga, Mike Bennett of Eugene and Tony Bennett of West Lebanon, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Bennett and 2 sisters, Mary Ann VanSant and Nancy Jo Bennett. David was a Project Engineer for the State of Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a member of Cayuga American Legion and a former member of Newport American Legion. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga. According to his wishes, there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded after visitation.
