David Lee Williams, 74, of Danville passed away at 4:38 pm on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. David was born on September 7, 1941 in Evansville, Indiana to David Courtland and Dorothy (Dosher) Williams. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria Ann (Stuebe), his two daughters Jennifer Williams and Stephanie (David) Reed, five grandchildren Amanda and Nico Williams and Jack, Samantha and Ila Reed, two sisters Diana (William) Downing and Deborah (Kent) Olson; in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Dorothy Williams. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Education and a master's degree of Education, David taught industrial education at East Park Junior High and he was the DO coordinator at Danville High School. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, David built Lynn Apartments in Westville and Lynn Mini-Warehouse in Danville. David also had many rental homes throughout the Danville area. In the later half of his career, David built horse drawn vehicles and ran Williams Livery, providing carriage rides throughout the area. David also ran W & E Equipment which bought and sold farm machinery and fork lifts. He was actively buying and selling equipment up until his death. David enjoyed many interests in his 74 years including piloting his own plane, stock car racing (#41), competing in horse shows with his horse drawn vehicles, boating, snowmobiling in Door County Wisconsin, and especially spending time with his five grandchildren. David also enjoyed spending time on his 40 acre farm fishing and fixing equipment. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 25, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, IL with Pastor James Blue officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday June 25, 2016 at the funeral home.
