David L. Phillips, 39, of Danville, passed away at 9:14 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital. David was born on June 7, 1970 in Danville, the son of David Eugene and Connie (Murdock) Phillips. He married Tiffany (Griggs) Phillips on February 16, 1991 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by his parents-David and Connie Phillips of Danville; grandmother- Louise Murdock of Danville; sister- Deborah (Willie Ruble) Irvin of Westville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends; the Young family and especially Tyler and Payton, who he thought of his boys. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, uncle and a cousin. David graduated from Danville High School in 1989. While at DHS David played all four years in baseball, where he earned several awards. David continued his love of baseball coaching the teams in Tilton and at Prairie Farms. He was currently coaching the American Legion Post #210 13 and under traveling team. He loved coaching and playing baseball. When David wasnt involved with baseball he enjoyed golfing, spending time with family, camping, watching movies and going on family vacations. He loved going to Las Vegas on vacations and enjoyed playing poker and blackjack. David worked as a newspaper distributor at Millers News Agency for 13 years. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. David will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. A Celebration of the life of David L. Phillips will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Burial will follow the service in Gundy Cemetery.
