David Kenneth Amos, 69, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. David was born on January 16, 1941, in Danville, the son of William James and Helen Irene (Brown) Amos. He married Sarah Thompson in 1960 in Danville. She preceded him in death on October 4, 1988. He later married Shirley Anderson Thompson in 1993 in Danville. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2002. He is survived by his three sons- Rick (Amy) Thompson of Hoopeston, David (Beth) Amos of Georgetown and William (Chela) Amos of Danville; two daughters- Vicky (Michael) Britt of Nancy, Kentucky and Pat (Mitchell Sr.) Oaties of Danville; one step-son- Tommy Thompson of Danville; one brother- Butch (Nadean) Amos of Danville; one sister- Mary (Phillip) Castle of Sun City West, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Homer Amos and James Amos. David worked for Joe Thomas Excavating and later worked for Bryants Auto Parts for over 20 years, until he retired. He loved animals, especially dogs. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to cook-outs and taking people places. A Memorial Service for David K. Amos will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Georgetown Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Following the memorial service David will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. Per his wishes he will be cremated. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
