David A. Jarvis

Danville – David Allen Jarvis, 88, of Danville, passed away at 12:50 AM on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Goldwater Care of Danville. He was born on July 12, 1937, in Blount Township to James William and Thelma Louise (Charles) Jarvis. He was first married to Marlene Sue Hoover with whom he had two children. After Marlene’s passing, David married Patricia Ann Garner on March 16, 1975. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2025.

He is survived by his two children, David F. Jarvis and Vonda S. (Barry) Kuchenbrod; a grandson, Clifford A. (Mary Shea) Kuchenbrod; two great-grandchildren, David N. (Victoria) Kuchenbrod and Ethan J. Kuchenbrod; and two brothers, James C. “J.C.” Jarvis and Michael Jarvis.

In addition to his two wives, David was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marilyn Darnell.

David worked in maintenance at Illinois Power for nearly thirty years until his retirement. Although his work could often take him to various towns and cities around the state, his favorite place to be was always outside in nature. David was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and tracked down all types of local game over the years. However, he especially loved turkey hunting and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He will also be remembered as a helper who could be counted on to lend a hand to his friends and neighbors with a project when needed.

A private service to celebrate the life of David A. Jarvis will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. He will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Marlene, at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
