David Joe Gombert, 60, of Danville, passed away at 7:33 a.m. Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. David was born on February 28th, 1952, in Danville, the son of Marlene Ann Gombert. He is survived by his fianc- Victoria Romero of Danville; three step children- Rafael (Jessica) Romero Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, Gloria Romero and Olivia Romero both of Danville; four step-grandchildren- Rafael, Emiliano, Enrique and Tristian; four aunts- Louise (Bob) Daugherty of Crossville, Tennessee, Kathy Butcher of Tilton, Illinois, Nina (Wilford) Wyatt of Georgetown and Pat (John) Romant of Westville; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and two uncles, William J. Gombert, and Christian W. Gombert. David worked at KIK in Danville for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. David enjoyed going to family dinners and enjoyed eating Italian food. He was a self appointed member of the "Sicilian Mafia" and loved referring to men as "Young Man". A Memorial Service for David Joe Gombert will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, with Pastor James Blue officiating.
