Danville- David Harley "Gerbil/Pops" Griffin, 64, of Danville passed away at 9:28 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on January 31, 1949 in Danville to Harley and Dorothy Ion Crose Griffin, and raised by his other father, George Crose. He married Charlotte A. Hoffman on May 7, 1971 in Yuma, AZ. She survives. Also surviving are ten children Sherri (Butch) Vice of Ridge Farm, Cassandra Griffin of Danville, Tina (Bart Hayes) Griffin of Tilton, David A (Patty A.) Griffin of Ridge Farm, Dorothy Griffin of Vermillion Grove, Brittany Griffin, Crystal Griffin, Ashley Taylor, Lacey Griffin, and William Griffin; Grandchildren, Ryan (Amber Andrews) Moore, Willie Vice, Dylan Vice, Grace Vice, Skylar Griffin, Brentney Hayes, Bart Hayes, Kimberly Cohoon, Amber Cohoon, Sieara Harders, Jarred, Brown, and Destanee Griffin; great-grandchildren, Addyson and Aiden McCreary, Jordon Taylor, Jayden Taylor, Colton Moore, Elizabeth Moore, and Alexis Moore; five sisters, Diane Griffin, Georgeanne Crose, Jackie Crose, Cathy Davis, and Tracey Griffin; three brothers, Kenny Griffin, Timmy Griffin, and Jimmy Griffin; and the Swider Family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Leroy Swider. David was devoted very much to his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were his whole life. David always kept himself busy with helping others, never knew an enemy, and was very liked and respected by all who knew him. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed riding his four-wheelers, fishing, working on cars and lawn mowers, and racing with his son, David Griffin, Jr. A service to celebrate the life of David Griffin will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Danville. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM prior to the service on Tuesday, also at the funeral home.
