David L. Guiliani, 78, of Danville, passed away at 8:13pm on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Bloomington, IL. He was born on March 30, 1932, in Danville, the son o David and Anna (Branam) Guiliani. David graduated from Georgetown High School and enlisted into the United States Navy in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1954. David continued his education, earning a Bachelors Degree from Illinois State University, his Masters Degree from Indiana State University, and an advanced degree from the University of Illinois. He put his degrees to good use by educating children at various schools for 35 years. He retired in 1992 as principal of Edison School in Danville, IL. On February 21, 1958, David married Lois Parmenter at the First Presbyterian Church in Danville. She preceded him in death in November 2008. Survivors include one daughter, Terri Matlock of Bloomington, IL, four grandchildren, John Peek of Bloomington, Amanda (Bob) Graham, Niccole (Micah) Retzlaff, and Lindsay Connolly, all of Louisville, KY. Also surviving David are two great-granddaughters, Ashleigh and Shelby, two great-grandsons, Cole and Noah, and Davids three sisters, Kathleen (Bill) Pitlik, Eileen (John) Golcynski of Georgetown, Paulette (Butch) Young of Edwardsville, IL, and many nieces and nephews. His parents and one sister, Pauline Guiliani, preceded David in death. David was a member of the Danville American Legion Post #210, as well as several professional educational organizations. A celebration of the Life of David L. Guiliani will begin at 10:30am on October 27, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church located at 100 North Franklin St. in Danville with Rev., Drs. Jimmy and Katie Hopper officiating. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Danville American Legion Post#210. A visitation for family and friends will be from 3:30pm-7:30pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, and also from 9:30am until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
