David French

David Lyle French ,87, of Covington, Indiana, passed away on Thursday August 20, 2026. David was born on September 17, 1938, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Lyle and Delores (McCellan) French. David married the love of his life Rosemary Russell, she survives.

Also surviving David is his children; Debbie (Andy) Huston, Connie French, Linda (Brian) Cohen, and Tammy French, grandchildren; Robin, Lynda, Michael, Dean, Jeremy, Robert, Zachary, Patti, Jenifer, Wayne and Jacob, many great and great great grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Maurine and Beth Ann.

David worked for many years at Olin Matheson then FlexL, after retiring he worked part time at the VA. David was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed time with friends drinking coffee and talking. He was a member of Airplane Club in Danville, Illinois. His time was always enjoyed when he was with his family. David was known for his unique sense of humor and would act it all out.

A graveside service for David will be held at Hick’s Cemetery in Perrysville, Indiana, at a later date. David’s family chose to have Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Covington, Indiana, help with David’s final wishes.
