David "Dave" Drews, 73, of Danville passed away at 6:34 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on June 16, 1939 in Danville the son of Theodore "Ted" and Margaret (Huckstadt) Drews. He married Michelle (Bob) Nelson in 1970. She survives. Survivors include one son- John (Amy) Drews, Ashly Carruthers of Danville, two step-sons- Jeff and Mike Warner, one sister- Doris (Gerald) King of Danville, three nephews- David, Dan, Gary King and their families and very special friends- Jim (Sue) Brown, Larry Cox, Carroll and Linda McBride and Quinten Slevin. David was preceded in death by his parents and one step-son Scott Warner. David was in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He worked at Hyster for 42 years until retiring in 2001. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Illinois State Stock Horse Association, I&I Roundup, M&W Saddle Club and former member of the Vermilion County Fair Board. David was a Farrier for 40 years, he loved NASCAR, horses and trail riding and especially following his son's rodeo career. A Celebration of David's Life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Heidle officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville from 4:00-7:00 PM. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Danville. Memorials can be made in David's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Danville Lutheran School.
