David D. Winkler Sr.

David D. Winkler, Sr., 82, of Danville went home to our Lord at 12:37 pm on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on July 23, 1935 in Tilton, Illinois, the son of Coleman and Viola (Kincade) Winkler. David was united in marriage to Coleta Hall on July 23, 1955, she survives. He will be dearly missed by sons, David Winkler, Jr., Terry (Jennifer) Winkler, Robert (Tammy) Winkler; Daughters, Beccy (Rick) Reed, Vicki (Jim) Smith; Brother, Virgil (Janet) Winkler; Grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Winkler, Kim (Jon) Becker, Sara (Andy) Bower, Nathan (Katie) Winkler, Rachel (Ryan) Pearson, Michael (Chasidy) Winkler, Bricie (Jason) Leigh, Becca Winkler, Melissa (Tyson) Bell, Joey (Bryanna) Smith, and Danielle (Freddie) George; seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and granddaughter, Miley Reed. David belonged to Sheet Metal Local 218 of Champaign for 65 years, he worked for Frank J. Strahl for many years, later retired at 62 from Venture Mechanical. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A celebration of David's life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 18, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St, Danville. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
