Danville - David D. Cunningham, 71, of Danville went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2014 at Carle Inpatient Cancer Center in Urbana, IL. David was born the son of Earl and Wilma Cunningham on June 29, 1943 in Danville, IL. On March 27, 1965, he married Sandy Carter and they have enjoyed many years of wedded bliss since. David is survived by his wife Sandy Cunningham of Danville; his two sons Brad (Amy) Cunningham of Danville and Chris (Hadeel) Cunningham of Montreal, Canada; his two brothers Oren Cunningham of Danville and Robert (Roberta) Cunningham of Covington; his grandchildren Josie and Nolen Cunningham; and his step-grandchildren Jarrett Joyner, Jordan and Jett Villanueva, Lina and Anthony Khoury; and his cherished mother-in-law Leona Carter. David is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Wilma Cunningham and his brother Myron Cunningham. David was a very active member in his community. He was a member of Prairelands/Piankeshaw Council (Boy Scouts), past President of the Danville Area Board of Realtors, past President of the Danville Country Club, on the Board of Trustees at Ridgeview Baptist Church, and a member of the Second Church of Christ. In his free time he enjoyed going golfing, bowling, running, playing pool and a good game of racquetball. David was a successful business man. Starting with his Bachelors of Finance at the University of Illinois, he excelled in managing over 800 rental units and by becoming the first real estate appraiser in Vermilion County. David cherished the Lord and his family and friends deeply; he will be missed by many. A service to celebrate the life of David Cunningham will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville on December 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. Pastor Drew Mentzer will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on, December 19th, also at Sunset Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
