David D. Crawford, 71, of Danville, died at 3:19 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems in Danville. David was born on August 6, 1935 in Watseka, Illinois, the son of Delbert David and Ethel E. (Herriman) Crawford. He married Phyllis Kay York in 1955 in Danville. She preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Jerry Kay Justice on October 10, 1998 in Bismarck. She survives. He is also survived by his one son- Randy Nesbitt of Danville; one daughter- Tammy (Scott) Williams of Pearland, Texas; three grandchildren- Ryan Nesbitt of Danville, Austin Williams and Haley Williams both of Pearland, Texas; two cousins- Jerry (Marleen) Purdin of Woodland, Illinois and Bill Herriman of Kerrville, Texas; and one aunt- Bertha Vorick of Santa Maria, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife- Phyllis Crawford. David graduated from Milford High School. After high school he joined the United States Army and served from 1955-1958. David worked for Windbreaker, Snap-On Tools and Voorhees Lumber while living in Danville. He was a member of Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church. David was a lifetime member of the Illiana Genealogical Society. He enjoyed reading and doing genealogy work. David collected miniature farms toys and worked on model railroading. He loved to spend his time with the grandchildren playing games. A Celebration of the Life of David D. Crawford will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 " 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Korean War Veterans at the cemetery on Monday.
