David 'Bobo' Howard

Covington, IN - David "Bobo" Wayne Howard, 47, of Covington was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis with his wife and family at his side. David was born in Danville, IL on March 26, 1964, to William G. Howard, Jr. and Dorothy Delores Cates Howard High. He was born on his mother's birthday. David was married to Retta Douglas on December 26, 2003 in Thorntown, IN. She survives. Also surviving are a brother, Gary (Charlotte) Howard; three sisters, Linda Phillpott, Brenda (Dean) Daggy, and Leila (Tony Phelps) Bird; three step-children, Holly, Rachael, and Nathan Allen; two step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends all of whom he loved dearly. David departed this earth to rejoice in Heaven with his mother and father; two brothers, Steve (Marge) Howard and Dennis Howard; a brother-in-law, Leonard Phillpott; and several friends and classmates who have all preceded him in death. David graduated from Covington High School in 1982 and attended DACC in Danville and the police academy in Pontiac to train for his career as a Corrections Officer. He worked at Pontiac Prison and the Danville Correctional Facility for several years before retiring due to his health. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and go mushroom hunting. David had a big heart and didn't know a stranger. Despite his physical struggles, he was always willing and eager to help others and was skilled in many areas. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. David loved the Lord and read his Bible faithfully. Please join us in celebrating David's life. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, November 3 at the First Assembly of God Church in Covington. A service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the church with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington.
