David 'Bo' Hughes

David "Bo" M. Hughes, 64, of Westville, passed away at 12:44 am Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at his home. He was born in Danville, IL. The son of Warren Hughes and Evelyn (Campbell) Starks on March 12, 1959. He was united in marriage to Anita Cook on August 19, 1983, she survives.

He is also survived by his son Matt (Adrienne) Hughes; his daughter Megan (Marlon Briggs) Hughes; His grandchildren Addison, Liam, Xavier and Greyson; his siblings Floyd (Cheryl) Hughes, Rosemary (Joe) Dietz and Kim (Dave) Klein. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Johnna (Johnny) Elliott, Allen (Connie) Reed and his beloved dog Bruno.

Bo worked in maintenance for many years. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army 1st Calvary Division. He enjoyed music, especially the blues. He also enjoyed spending free time at Julees where he gained numerous friendships over the years. He frequently watched The Price is Right, MASH and Everybody Loves Raymond. Bo loved his children and grandchildren more than anything who he was often caught sneaking snack cakes to before dinner. He was a dedicated sports fan regardless of the stats. He supported the Illini, Raiders, Cubs and Tigers. In Tribute to Bos unfailing support of his teams, the family asks that you wear your favorite sports memorabilia to his services.

A celebration of Bos life will be held at 12:30pm, Monday, August 28, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 with Pastor Matt Filicsky officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Monday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery.
