David A. Phillips

Danville – David A. Phillips, 69, of Danville, passed away at 9:40 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. He was born January 13, 1956, in Danville to Archie and Marjorie M. (Hale) Phillips. He married his beloved wife of 46 years, Sherri Sue (Snack) Phillips, on October 7, 1979, in Sidell. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Ty (Nicole Barnes) Phillips of Alvin and his children, Logan and Bentley Phillips and her children Macey and Casen Barnes; another son, Christopher Phillips and his daughter, Madyson; a brother, Bob (Diane) Phillips of FL; and a nephew, Kevin (Molly) Snack of Alvaton, KY, and their children, Dalton and Brady Snack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Betty Snack.

Dave went to work for Heatcraft in Danville as a sheet metal worker until they shut their doors. He then moved on to MIFCO where he worked as a welder and fabricator until his retirement in November of 2021. However, Dave’s true passion was motorsports. He was involved with IXCR racing where he held a championship title for several years. Dave also worked for IXCR, sweeping the track and doing whatever task needed to be done. Dave’s talent for anything mechanical also meant he could often be found in his shop, working on a car or project. He was always available to help where he was needed. He touched many lives through his years in racing and created many long-lasting friendships.

Most important to Dave was his family. He lived for his son Ty and his grandchildren and always made sure to put them first and to be present in their lives. He loved them all deeply and will be missed by them all.
