Darrold 'Joe' Barrett

Danville - Darrold “Joe” Barrett Sr., 66, passed away peacefully in his home on December 15, 2014 in Danville. Joe was born the son of William and Ruth Barrett on December 26, 1947 in Danville, IL. On December 7, 1967 Joe married Gloria Nixon, they enjoyed many years of marriage and family life together. Joe is survived by his wife Gloria Barrett of Danville; his children Joe (Misty Roellgen) Barrett Jr. of Danville, Michele Barrett-Budnovich of Danville, Sherry Barrett of Danville, and Joanne Barrett of Danville; his brother Bill (Ann) Barrett of Tilton; his sisters Arlene Nichols of Tilton, and Reba Draper of Danville ; his grandchildren Ashley, Derrick, Kyle, Angelina, Josie, Kailey, Sarah, Rae Lynn and Darius; two great-grandchildren Kylina and Ethan; his sister-in-law Sandy Barrett; his brother-in-law Bob Rambole; dear friend Jack Barrett; and Jason Watson from Iroquois Memorial Hospice. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth; brothers Dave Barrett, Nick Barrett, and Glen Barrett; and sisters Lois Lucas, Clara Curry, and Belva Rambole. Joe had many active hobbies including hunting, fishing, playing pool, bird watching, and photography. When Joe was in a more “laid back” mood, he enjoyed listening to old country music, and a good poker game. Joe was a simple man, an excellent listener, a great advice giver and a dependable family man. He loved to eat and big family dinners were his favorite. Joe will be missed deeply by all who knew him. A service to celebrate the life of Darrold “Joe” Barrett will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville on Friday December 19, 2014 at 11a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11 a.m., also at Sunset Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local VFW or Amvets.
