Darrell E. Vollmer

Sadorus- Darrell E. Vollmer 57, of Sadorus, passed away peacefully at 10:39 a.m. on Saturday(Dec. 15, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A memorial service Celebrating Darrell's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation center Champaign- Urbana Chapel 710 N. Darrell was born Dec. 16, 1954 in Champaign,IL. He was the son of Ralph and Joan Fleener Vollmer. He married Shirley Judd on Oct. 3, 1981 in Urbana, IL at the University Baptist Church. She survives. Other survivors include 5 brothers Stephen (Marsha) Vollmer of Atwood, IL, Randy (Crystal) Vollmer of Longview, IL, Dale Vollmer of Columbia, SC, Ryan Vollmer and Nick (Danielle) Vollmer both of Champaign, IL and 3 Sisters Gayle Williamson of Farmington, MO, Lisa Vollmer of Birmingham, AL, Trisha Vollmer of Sydney, Australia. He also leaves behind Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Darrell graduated from Central High School in Champaign in 1973. He worked for Meadow Gold in Champaign and later was employed by the University of Illinois as an auto mechanic. He was self employed for many years where he built all different types of trailers. He loved working with hands. He was an avid coin collector and lover of cats. He was very generous person and his siblings knew him to be a wonderful brother.
