Darrel Wayne Powell

Darrel Wayne Powell, 49, of St. Anne, formerly of Danville passed away at 9:22am on Sunday December 7, 2008 at St. Mary Hospital in Kankakee. Darrel was born December 10, 1958 in Danville the son of Kelly R. and Lula M Crippin Powell. On March 9, 1990, he married Sheila Harris in Danville. Sheila, his mother Loula, stepchildren Gordon (Vicki) Parsons, Edward (Vickie) Parsons, Anthony Stingley, Cheryl (Frank) L. Musson, and Tracie Brat L. (Tommy) Gaskill, survives him. Brothers Raymond (Phyllis), Kally (Nancy), Chester (Cheri), Steven (Kelly), Mark, Brian (Marty), Kevin, Paul (Brittany) Powell; sisters Emily (Gene) Bencomo, Carol (Kyle) Looper, and Kathy Powell. Godson Aurileo Cruz and several step grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive him. Darrel worked at Sears Logistics in Manteno. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in the woods with his godson, and reading westerns. His family will deeply miss him. A celebration of Darrels life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday December 11, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion Street Danville. Pastor Scott McCurdy will officiate. Burial will be private after the services at Dodson Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends from 1:00pm until time of services at 2:00pm Thursday.
