Darlene Todd

Darlene Iris Todd, 90, formerly of Veedersburg, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, in Chrisman, Illinois.

She was born on June 7, 1931 in Elgin, Illinois to Edwin and June (Bartlett) Schnulle. She attended school in the Chicago area and later Danville High School.

On September 3, 1949, she married the love of her life, Harry L. (John) Todd. They shared 67 years together until his death in 2017. Together, they had one son, Steven (Debbie) Todd and two grandchildren, Aaron (Ambre) Todd and Jamie (Sean) Cowie; four great grandchildren, Austin (Savannah) Todd, Alex (Lindee Arrasmith) Todd, Jenna Pratt, Samuel Cowie with his soon to be born sister. Also, Darlene has one great-great-granddaughter, Aspen Pratt. She also leaves behind her best friend of 72 years, Pat Brown, of Covington, Indiana.

Darlene was a member of First Christian Church of Veedersburg, Indiana. She enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible. Being a very social person, Darlene enjoyed the staff and friends that she made while living at Liberty Estates in Danville, Illinois and Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman, Illinois. Darlene and John formerly owned Todd Construction from 1959 to 1984, where she worked as bookkeeper. She was involved in WIC (Women in Construction) and she was a member of the Lincoln Elementary School Kitchen Band, where they raised funds for the school. She and John enjoyed traveling on cruises and across the country. They lived in San Diego, California for 13 years, where she worked at Anthony's Seafood. She was an avid Cubs fan, loved her southwest jewelry, reading, playing cards, playing Bingo and donating to the Indian reservations.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Parks chapel mausoleum, 3901 N Vermilion St Danville, IL 61832. Officiating will be Pastor Garland Pannell. The family requests in lieu of flowers that any contributions in her memory be made to the First Christian Church, 301 Mill Street, Veedersburg, Indiana 47987. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements.
