Darenda Kay Curry

Fithian - Darenda Kay Curry, 38, of Fithian passed away at 9:38 PM on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Presence Covenant Hospital in Urbana. She was born on March 14, 1978 in Danville to Jeff and Donna (Hanthorn) Hanner. She was married to Terry Curry from 2000-20012 with which they had one son, Dalton Curry. They survive. In addition to her son, Darenda is survived by her parents, Jeff and Donna Hanner; a brother, Michael (Jana) Hanner of Fithian, three nieces, Cherokee and Gracie Hanner, and Megan Young; a nephew, Trevor Hanner; and her soulmate, Scott Hufford, his son Derrick Hufford of Oakwood, daughter Chelsey Hufford of Rossville, and grandson Lane that made her smile when he called her Meme. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Darenda graduated from Eastern Illinois University and was working full time as the Regional Coordinator at Lincoln's Challenge Academy in Rantoul where she was also a Public Notary. She also worked part time as a bartender at the GAO Grotto and as a representative for Lia Sophia Jewelry. The biggest part of Darenda's life was spending time with her son, Dalton, and her family. She enjoyed her time with friends and always made sure to put other's needs before her own. Darenda loved racing Jeeps and was a big part of Hanner Racing. She also loved motorcycle rides and stock car racing with "her man". She loved to dance, loved jewelry, and enjoyed going to rummage sales with her grandma. Darenda also loved the color purple, right down to her purple Jeep. A service to celebrate the life of Darenda Curry will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Pastor Phil Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, January 25, also at Sunset in Danville.
