Dannie W. Meeker

RIDGE FARM - Dannie W. Meeker, 61, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 8:35pm, Tuesday, February 19th, 2008, at home. He was born to Warren H. and Virginia (Craig) Meeker on March 19th, 1946, in Mattoon, IL. He married Mary Ellen Puckett on January 25th, 1964, in Lerna, IL. Others who will miss him include: his mother, Virginia Meeker of Mattoon, IL; his son, Dannie Scott Meeker of Savannah, GA; his daughter, Anita (Mike) Kotcher of Danville; his grandchildren, Wesley & Ashley Kotcher, both of Danville; his sister, Linda (Robert) Warner of Neoga, IL; his nephews, Kent Meeker of Greensburg, IN, & Michael Kastl of Neoga, IL; his niece, Halie Kastl; and many other nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren H. Meeker. Dannie worked as a Tool & Die Maker as well as a First Responder for NACCO for 37 years before retiring. He was also a member of the ILTBU. After retiring, he worked at Fire Extinguisher Sales & Service in Mattoon. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. In his spare time, Dannie liked bicycling, kayaking and working in his garage (tinkering, as he put it). He was a bass guitarist for the Out of the Kitchen band. His grandchildren, family & friends meant the world to him. A celebration of Dannies life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 23rd, 2008, at Bethel Baptist Church, 501 S Main Street, Georgetown, IL. Pastor McPhillips will officiate. Visitation will be held 4-8pm, Friday, February 22nd, 2008, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown. He will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dannies name to Bethel Baptist Church. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
