Daniel Wood

Danville- Daniel G. Wood, 58, left this life February 15, 2011 at 2:15 AM at the Danville VA Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1952 at Methodist Hospital in Gary, IN to Woodrow W. and Beverly J. Lehmann Wood. He was preceded in death by his father Woodrow. He will be sadly missed by his mother Beverly, sister Sally (Ernest) Johnson and families, brother Dennis W. (Jo) Wood and families, and brother John (Carrol) Wood and families. Daniel joined the Army after he graduated from Danville High School in 1970 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then returned to Danville and pursued a degree in forestry at DJC. He served in the Army Corp. of Engineers where he was stationed throughout the U.S. Daniel then returned to Danville to work in the family business. He last worked at the VA Medical Center as Ward Clerk until he retired in 2003 due to illness. He spent the last several years of his life as a patient at the Danville VA Medical Center. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the VA Medical Center for loyal and professional care given to Daniel during his need. Due to Daniels wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites will be completed by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville at their on-site crematory. Memorials may be made to Volunteer Services at the Danville VA Medical Center or to the Vermilion County Conservation District.
