Cayuga, Ind. -- Daniel Pavey, 96, formerly of Cayuga, Indiana and a resident of The Waters of Covington since July of 2006, passed away at 11:45 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 26, 2008 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born December 5, 1911 in Parke County, Indiana, the son of the late Ben and Alice Berry Pavey. Survivors include one niece, Marjory Platz of Plymouth, Indiana and one nephew, Myron Whittaker of Plymouth, Indiana. Daniel was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Daniel formerly worked at Citizens State Bank in Cayuga, Indiana for sixteen years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II serving in the southern Philippines, Luzon and New Guinea. Daniel received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, Bronze Service Arrow Head, American Theater Ribbon, American Defense Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Daniel enjoyed learning new things. He was also very accomplished at playing the electric organ. There will be no services. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date in Northern Indiana. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
