Daniel Mukai

Daniel "Dan" Mukai, born on August 18, 1957, in Stuttgart, Germany, passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Dan was known for his warm spirit and unwavering support of his family.

Dan dedicated his life to nurturing his family. He survives by his devoted wife, Shirley "Fine" Mukai. Together, they raised two sons, Alex and Zachary Mukai, as well as their cherished daughter, Cory (James) McElwee. Dan took great pride in his role as a grandfather, a joy reflected in the lives of Eden Jack Patty, Floyd Plunkett, and Henley McElwee who remember him fondly.

His legacy lives on through his principles and the love he shared. Dan had a passion for coaching, leading his boys in wrestling and football, and he enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly fishing. These pursuits brought him happiness and created treasured memories with his loved ones.

Dan is also survived by his brothers, George and Tom Mukai, who will carry forward his spirit of camaraderie and fun.

He was predeceased by his parents, Yoshio Mukai and Hilde (Sierakowski) Mukai, and his sister, Karen (Mukai) Laeli, all of whom he remembered fondly in his heart.

Dan Mukai’s life was one marked by love and dedication to his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and bring warmth to the lives he touched.

Dan's family has arranged cremation with Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Covington Chapel 420 3rd Street Covington Indiana 47932. A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on May 31, 2025, 2-5pm est. at West Lebanon Community Room 203 N. High Street West Lebanon, Indiana.
