Daniel Llewellyn, 81, of Perrysville passed away on August 14, 2025, at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville, Illinois, with his devoted wife by his side. Dan was born on November 1, 1943, in Danville, Illinois to the late Paul and Irma Llewellyn and attended Danville High School growing up.
Dan was the embodiment of dedication and integrity; as a third-generation brick and stone mason, he had a profound impact on the profession that will long be remembered. He embarked on his journey as a tradesman with an unyielding passion and commitment that soon led him to take on broader roles within the Union. As a business agent for the local union, and later as a director of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Dan was a steadfast advocate for his fellow workers. His remarkable leadership was complemented by his extensive training and accreditation at Harvard University. He had an unwavering commitment to uplift others and sought out new ways to support his team members. He will be remembered not just for his professional accolades but for the kindness and support he extended to those around him. This blend of passion and knowledge culminated in his retirement from the union in 2004, a time that marked not an end, but a new beginning in his life’s story.
In the golden years of his retirement, Dan found solace in the serene embrace of nature, establishing the Tall Timbers homestead alongside his beloved spouse, Gloria. Their sanctuary among the trees brought him unmatched joy and peace. Furthermore, he and Gloria embarked on a new venture in 2006 with the opening of Glorie Bee Antiques in Covington. Here, Dan was not only a businessman but also an integral part of the community, diligently restoring the shop's building and forging connections with patrons, fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere for all who visited. Dan maintained an interest in cars throughout his lifetime, which began at an early age with a variety of scooters and motorbikes. Among his favorites in later years were a 1938 Ford Coupe and a 2002 Ford Thunderbird. He also maintained a passion for travelling through his many road trips and was always seeking the next adventure. He usually found himself spending the winter months in Florida or on River Cruises. Dan was committed to his faith and his church family at Second Church of Christ. His strong faith and warm presence will be missed dearly.
Dan is survived by his wife, Gloria Moore; his children, Rodney (Erica Bales) Llewellyn, Kevin Llewellyn, John Llewellyn, Amy (Chris) Murray, and Andrew Woodrow; and his grandchildren Hope, Faith, Max, Blake, Alex, Aidan, Eve, Emma, and Asher. He leaves behind his sisters Nancy (Larry) Roderick and Catherine Cox as well.
