Daniel Gordon Burke

DANIEL GORDON BURKE, 69 Of Danville, Illinois was called home to be with his Lord, December 6, 2007 He was born September 25, 1938 in Urbana, Illinois, the son of O.B. (Shorty) and Ruby I. Burke. He married Patty Frick on February 22, 1959 in Sidell, Illinois. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two daughters, Michele (Greg) Noel of Greenville, Indiana; Danele (Michael) Butler of Forest Park, Illinois; one son, Danny (Amie) Burke of Terre Haute, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Ashton, Garland, Eric, Emma, Luke, Audrey, Seth, Reagan, and Carson; four brothers, Ted (Carolyn) Burke and James and (Georgie) Burke both of Danville, Illinois, Kevin (Vicky) Burke and Kim (Terri) Burke, both of Terre Haute, Indiana, and one sister, Judith (Darryl) Hornback, of Danville, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Richard (Karen) Frick of Sidell, Illinois; and one sister-in-law, Idamae Frick, of Plainfield, Indiana. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory. He helped to establish Burke Spring, Inc. with his father in 1963, beginning in Danville, expanding to Tilton, Illinois and later in 1974 to Terre Haute. He was very blessed in the heavy-duty vehicle and equipment repair business. He retired in 2005. He was very active in his church, Vermilion Heights Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, spending time with his family, and helping people in need. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 2-7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at Vermilion Heights Christian Church, 725 Oakwood Ave., Danville, Illinois with Pastor Rod Godley officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
