Daniel Dan A. Catt, 76 of Danville, passed away on Friday morning, August 14, 2009 at Provena USMC in Danville. He was born on January 16, 1933, in Petersburg, IN, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Lenora (Spray) Catt. On October 15, 1955, Dan married Ms. Shirley A. Leslie in Oceanside, California. She survives along with their three children, Michael (Susan) Catt of Monument, CO, Patrick (Karyn) Catt of Normal, IL, Tracy (Zig) Bryant of Westfield, IN, and his seven grandchildren. His parents, one infant brother, Rowlan, 1 adult brother, Robert, and his two sisters, Roberta and Rosemary, precede Dan in death. Dan joined the United States Navy on December 20, 1951 and was involved in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War serving with the Marine Corps as a Hospital Corpsman. On May 1, 1979, Dan retired from the Navy with the rank of Chief Petty officer. Starting in 1980, Dan started officiating local baseball, softball, and basketball games to which he fully enjoyed He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church of Danville, the Danville VFW, the Danville American Legion, Danville Knights of Columbus, and the Fleet Reserve. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, which enjoyed fishing, and bird hunting. He was an Illini fan, and a Brooklyn and LA Dodgers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be missed by his special friends, John and Jane Zimmerman, and Conie and Rosemary Beightler, as well as others that knew him. A Catholic Mass and Christian Burial form Mr. Daniel Catt will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the St. Pauls Church in Danville with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Burial will take place at the Danville National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home located at 3940 N.
