Daniel A. Burwash, 91, of Clinton, IN formerly of Danville, IL passed away at 8:50 PM at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN on February 6, 2026.
Daniel was born on July 4, 1934 the son of Thomas and Ruth Burwash in Danville, IL. He married Margaret “Ann” Gregan on April 25, 1981 in Richmond England and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2014.
Survivors include his daughter, Joanne (Eric) Ownbey of Gulfport, MS, his significant other, Carolyn Christensen of Clinton, IN as well as five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one sibling, Sara Soracco of Seattle, WA.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret “Ann” Burwash and grandson, Marc Dutch.
Daniel served his country in the United States Navy from November 11, 1953 until November 11, 1967. He and his family moved to England in 1973 where he worked as a Liaison for McDonald Douglas and returned to the United States in 1993. Daniel was a member of the American Legion Post 210 in Danville, IL and later the American Legion Post 72 in Crawfordsville, IN. He was also a member of the NRA, on the Friends of the NRA Banquet Committee, and enjoyed serving as a Range Safety Officer at Danville Rifle and Pistol Club.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 210 at the funeral home. Robbie Ketcherside will officiate. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made in Daniel’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
