Danville- Daniel Joseph Techtow 50, of Danville passed away 10:47 a.m. Sunday (March 21, 2004) at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Dan was born Feb. 8, 1954 in Danville, IL. He was the son of Wilbur "Curly" and Ann Repasy Techtow. His mother survives. He married Mary Sue Defebaugh on Sept. 30, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Other survivors include 2 daughters, Katey Techtow and Amanda (Allan) Shepherd both of Danville and a grandson Nikolas Shepherd. A sister- Shirley (Don) Strader of Jacksonville, IL and 2 brothers- Paul (Loretta) Techtow and Dave (Carrie) Techtow both of Danville. He was preceded in death by his father and infant brother, Jimmy. He graduated in 1972 from Schlarman High School and later received an Associate Degree from Danville Area Community College. He was a machinist at Hyster for 12 years and most recently was employed by Advanced Filtration Systems, Inc. in Champaign as a manufacturing engineer for 16 years. Dan loved NASCAR, model trains and rockets where he was known as "The Rocket man" by his College for Kids students at DACC, karaoke and all types of music, movies, fireworks, cooking, gardening, reading, motorcycles, family gatherings and gambling. There wasn't much that he didn't enjoy. Dan will be most remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. Dan was known as a giving person and his last gift was that of life as an organ donor. You are invited to Celebrate Dan's Life by attending a memorial visitation from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday March 26 th followed by a Service of Remembrance at 8 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home. The family requests that donations in Dan's name be made to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, The Center for Children's Services 702 N.
