Dale W. Knauer

Cayuga, Ind. - Dale W. Knauer, 90, a lifelong resident of Cayuga, passed away at 6:22 p.m. EDT Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his residence.

He was born April 22, 1931, in Cayuga, Indiana the son of the late George W. and Blanche Irene (Murdock) Knauer.

He married Mary Sue Mourfield on September 22, 1956, in Cayuga, Indiana celebrating 65 years together this past year. She survives.

Other survivors include his children: Donald (Sandy) Knauer of Cayuga, Indiana and Rhonda (Matt) Miller of Perrysville, Indiana; six grandchildren: Ryan Miller, Lindsey (Travis) Wait, Bradley (Allison) Knauer, Kellie (Blake) Moore, Matthew (Zandra) Johnson and Tyler (Rachael) Johnson, and nine great-grandchildren: Grayson, Collin and Landon Wait; Mila and Maren Knauer; Waylon Moore and Zander, Joselyn and Benjamin Johnson.

Dale was preceded in death by two sisters: Freda Kyllo and Doris Farthing, and one brother: Fred Knauer.

Dale served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. After returning from the service, he started working as a millwright at Lauhoff Grain (Now Bungee Milling) in Danville for 43 years retiring in 1993.

He was a lifetime member of the Cayuga Christian Church where he served as an elder for many years. Dale was a 1949 graduate of Cayuga High School. He loved gardening, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a great teacher of carpentry and handy man skills. Dale loved to share his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He was always available to help anyone in need.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Cayuga Christian Church Youth Center: Officiating: Ashton Stewart; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: Noon EDT until time of services on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Youth Center.
