Dale T. Morris

Dale T. Morris, 91, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:45pm, Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. He was born the son of Thurman & Lulu-Belle (Hammer) Morris on September 29, 1917, in Tuscola, IL. He was wed to Gladys Hawkins on June 29, 1948, in Coulterville, IL. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2008. Dale was a Veteran of the US Army and he was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Bronze Star. He later worked as a nurses aide at the Veterans Administration Hospital for over 27 years. He also worked part-time for the Georgetown School District for 22 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, as well as hunting. He was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Dale is survived by: his son Herman (Connie) Morris of Danville; his grandchildren, Jessica (Billy) Allen of Laceys Spring, AL, and Dale (Angie) Morris of Catlin; his great-grandchildren, J.D. Morris, Coty Morris, Colton Morris, & Cameron Morris; and his brother, Luther (Linsey) Morris of Virginia. His parents, two brothers, & five sisters preceded him in death. A celebration of Dales life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 31, 2009, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown. Pastor Jerry Vincent will officiate. Visitation will be 11a-1p, Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
