D. VIRGINIA CRIPPIN D. Virginia Crippin, 89, of Georgetown, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, November 21st, 2010 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville, Illinois. Virginia was born on November 18th, 1921 in Parke County, Indiana, the daughter of Marvin Bishop and Ruth (Stokes) Lawson. She married Glen William Crippin on May 7th, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 15th, 1981. She is survived by her son- Grady (Phoebe) Crippin of St. Joseph, Illinois; grandson- Tyler Glenn Crippin of St. Joseph, Illinois; two brothers- Earl Ray Jack Lawson of Idaville, Indiana and Leland B. Skip (Sandra) Lawson of Covington, Indiana; two sisters- Dorothy Jovanovich of Clinton, Indiana and Barbara Burnell of Idaville, Indiana; brother-in-law- Curtis McIntyre of Crawfordsville, Indiana; sister-in-law- Norma Lawson of Rensselaer, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Jane McIntyre, and two brothers- Marion L. Pete Lawson and Bill J. Lawson. Virginia was employed at Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad in Chicago, as a junior accountant for 15 years. She also worked at Sears and Roebuck, Wards, and Carson Pirie Scott in Danville. She enjoyed collecting antiques, and was an avid reader. She was very proud of her family genealogy research and had searched back that her family came from England in 1610 and settled in Jamestown, Virginia, and later Mercer County, Kentucky. A Celebration of the life of D. Virginia Crippin will be at 2:00 p.m. (CST). Saturday, November 27th, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Curtis McIntyre officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. (CST) Saturday at the funeral home. Virginias wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
