Cynthia S. DeGroat, 69, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:30am, Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Newman Rehab & Healthcare, Newman, IL. She was born on October 24, 1946, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Earl and Mary {Wolcott} Dudley. She was first wed to John V. Cummins. She later married Vince DeGroat on February 29, 1980, until his passing in 1983. Cynthia was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed painting, cooking & baking. She loved to play Bingo and visiting with her friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family who will miss her dearly. Cynthia is survived by: her son, John "Mike" (Cindy) Cummins of Homer; her daughter, Molly (Ancil) Carter of Louisville, KY; her step-daughter, Polly DeGroat of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Baylee Carter of Louisville, KY, Jacob Sanders of Tuscola, Angela Hall of Decatur, Brittany Warfel of Villa Grove, & Kaitlyn Irons of Memphis, TN; her six great grandchildren; and her special friends, Colleen Irons of Danville and lifelong best friend, Cheryl Campbell of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Robert Cummins. A celebration of Cynthia's life will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00pm-2:00pm on Thursday prior to her service at the funeral home. As per her wishes, she will be cremated and will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
