Hoopeston – Cynthia M. Lahne, 72, of Hoopeston, formerly of Grape Creek, passed away at 4:43 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born January 3, 1953 in Danville to Fred Wilson, Jr. and Amelia Rosalie (Stines) Wilson. She married William Ira Lahne on October 6, 1978. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2004.
She is survived by three children, Angelica Pelfrey of Danville, William Lahne of Clarksville, TN, and Sashsa Akers of Danville; seven grandchildren, Clayton, Noah, JJ, Gregory, David, Passion, and Dixie; siblings, Robin (Tom) Oliphant and Melissa Johnson; brother-in-law, Terry (Cathy) Lahne; special friends, David and Connie Arlington, and their family, Cierra Lockhart, Jonah Arlington, Tara Dalton, Jacqueline Arlington, Emily and Sage Arlington, and Ember Hutchins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Kenton Wilson, Marcus Wilson; stepmom Margaret Wilson; and Nova Arlington.
Cynthia graduated from Westville High School before starting her family and prided herself on being a caring homemaker. Over the years, she worked as a talented seamstress, lending her talents to Custom Care Dry Cleaners making alterations. Cynthia also created beautiful wedding cakes for newlyweds. In her spare time, she volunteered for the Westville Youth Football League where she served as Treasurer.
Cynthia’s family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the Carle Cardiac HVICU team for their special care and attention.
A service to celebrate the life of Cynthia Lahne will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. She will be laid to rest with her husband following the service at Danville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, June 30, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials in her name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Folded Flag Foundation.
