Cynthia Kay Katavich

Cynthia Kay Katavich, 76, of Georgetown passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026 at Goldwater Care in Danville. She was born on August 26, 1949 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of William Joseph “Joe” and Jennie {Boen} Lewis. Cindy was a proud graduate of Georgetown High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” Katavich, on January 27, 1968. They celebrated 57 years of marriage together just a few days before his passing last year.

Cindy devoted many years of her life to serving others as a cook at a local school, where she was known for her kindness and dedication to nurturing the children she served. She was a member of the Georgetown Friends Church, and later, the Vermilion Grove Friends Church, ensuring faith was always at the forefront in her life. She had a passion for antique shopping and was always on the hunt for pieces to add to her diary cow motif collection.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Joe Lewis, and her husband, Joe Katavich. She is survived by her mother Jennie Lewis; her sons Jay (Tracie) Katavich and Dan (Erica) Katavich; and her brothers Mike (Carrie) and Jeff (Barb) Lewis. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jacob Katavich, Madison (Karstan) Lund, Hailey Hunter, and Case Katavich; as well as a great-granddaughter Emory Mae Lund.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home’s Houghton- Leasure Chapel, located at 200 E. West Street in Georgetown, Illinois, 61846. A funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow the visitation that afternoon at 2:30 pm. Per her wishes, cremation will take place following the services. Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the Vermilion Grove Friends Church.
