Cynthia Copeland

Cynthia L. Copeland (Hortin), 72, of St. Joseph, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Cindy was born on March 8, 1953, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She dedicated 35 years of her life to serving others as a Patient Service Representative at Carle Clinic, where her warmth and compassion touched countless lives. She is survived by her devoted husband, Randy; her children, Julie and Steven (Stacy); her cherished grandchildren, Kiersten, Nicholas, Allison, Konner, Clayton, and Kamble; and her four adored great-grandsons. She also leaves behind her lifelong best friend, Nanny, with whom she shared a lifetime of laughter, adventures, and memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a niece. Cindy was a woman of deep faith and quiet strength. She found joy in the simple things: a good book, a strong cup of coffee, time with her grandchildren, and visits to the Smoky Mountains. She was known and loved for her kindness, her generous heart, and her steadfast spirit. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Champaign Chapel 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL. 61820 a memorial service will follow at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart. Cindy’s love was a constant presence in the lives of those around her, and her legacy of faith, love, and grace will live on in all who knew her.
