Curt "Monty" was born in Oakwood, IL on March 3, 1920 to Oscar B. and Bertha M. (Taylor) Montgomery. He attended Shellbark and Red Oak Schools near Oakwood. He worked as an auto mechanic, airplane mechanic (WWII), a Vermilion County deputy sheriff, and chief of security at Lauhoff Grain (Bunge). For many years, he Red Vested at Provena USMC in Danville, and in 2012 he even worked as a security volunteer at his assisted living residence in FL. During WWII, he proudly served in Texas, Morotai, and Okinawa (1942-1946); he also served four years in the IL National Guard. Curt's faith in God and his quirky sense of humor carried him through the best and worst of times. Daddy loved to laugh, telling stories as only he could tell them. He had a special gift for rising above adversity, especially health conditions. He was the most tender dad, best friend, and special to many whether for a long or short time. Quite simply, he was one of a kind, just as he always wanted. Imagine all the world changes he saw in his lifetime! Daddy touched more lives on this earth than he could ever imagine.
