Curtis 'Max' Watkins

Curtis "Max" Watkins, 71, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was born in Champaign on March 19, 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Rosemary Watkins, and his nephew, Justin Watkins.

He is survived by his sons, Andrew Watkins of San Diego, CA, and Thomas Watkins of Champaign, as well as his brothers, Rod Watkins, and Eric Watkins.

Curtis grew up in Villa Grove, IL, and graduated from Villa Grove High School as his classs salutatorian. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for ten years before attending Parkland and later the University of Illinois, where he received his master's degree in civil engineering. He worked for a variety of civil engineering firms in a career that spanned over 30 years. In his spare time, Curtis enjoyed playing pool and was a member of several pool leagues in the Champaign area.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, 710 N Neil St. Champaign, Illinois 61820 is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
