Curtis Allen Phelps

Hoopeston, IL. Curtis Allen Phelps, 59, of Hoopeston, IL., passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

He was born August 21, 1964, in Danville, IL., son of the late Jack and Beckie (Allen) Phelps

Curt married Sarah Koester on January 8, 2022, in Lebanon, IN and she survives.

Surviving along with his wife are his children: Ryan (Kristi) Phelps, Kara Phelps, Janine Phelps, Quentin (Amanda) Phelps, Jackson (Alexus Minick) Phelps and Connor (Morgan Duprey) Phelps; his stepson: Joshua Koester; grandchildren: Vance Phelps, Jemma Phelps and Isla Phelps; his brothers: Tony (Leila Bird) Phelps and Steve Phelps; and sister: Rachel (Jim) Coe

If there was one thing that Curt was known for, it was his love of music. He was a talented musician who enjoyed playing guitar, keyboard, bass guitar and was not afraid to jump in the sound booth to run the technical side of things as well. He owned and operated several companies over the years including: Wabash Valley Disposal, Phelps Brothers Disposal and Phelps Consulting. More than anything, Curt loved his family and being a dad. He cherished all the time he was able to spend with his kids and could always be found at their sporting events cheering them on. His infectious smile touched many lives over the years, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life for Curt will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 10AM at the Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL. with pastor Greg Taylor officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 4PM-7PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Danville, IL 61834.
