Curtis A. Mielke

Curtis A. Mielke, 81, of Indianapolis and formerly of Danville, passed away on March 28, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He was born in Danville, where he would spend the majority of his life, on January 31, 1941 to William A. and Lois M. Mielke. He attended and graduated from Danville High School with the Class of 1959. He continued his education first at Arizona State University before transferring to Illinois Wesleyan where he received his bachelors degree.

Curtis proudly served in the United States Army from 1967- 1968. He was a Minor League Baseball player for the Chicago White Sox for 3 years. He was partner and co-owner for Mielke Brothers Bargain Barn, Mielke Brothers Real Estate, and Franks House of Color. He was also a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville.

Curtis is survived by his wife Janice "Jan" Mielke, whom he married on August 7, 1965 in Clinton, Iowa; son Spencer and wife Shelley Mielke, and their children Abigail, Matthew, Isaac, Andrew and Katie; son Matthew and wife Heidi Mielke and their children Fletcher, Hannah, Mariah, Paige, and Spencer; and brother Steve Mielke. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Curtis was preceded in death by parents, his sister Cheryl Burke and her husband John Burke, and his sister-in-law Patricia "Pat" Mielke.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 826 East Main Street in Danville. A funeral service will follow visitation at the church at 3:00 pm. Pastor Kent Tibben will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Lutheran Cemetery in Danville following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions may be made in his name to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
