Creola Ruth Kuyrkendall

Creola Ruth Kuyrkendall, 87, of Indianola, passed away at 12:54am, Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Presence USMC, Danville. She was born on April 27, 1926, the daughter of Volen and Bracie {Arnett} Netherton in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. On February 28, 1946, Creola was united in marriage to Harry Kuyrkendall in Georgetown, IL, until his passing on February 4, 2000. She will be missed by: her daughter, Beverly (John) Spesard of Chrisman; her grandchildren, Jim (Casey) Spesard of Chrisman, & Joe (Cassidy) Spesard of Ridge Farm; her step-grandson, Steve (Vicky) Spesard of Lizton, IN; her great grandchildren, Sydney, Addison, Hayden, & Harper Spesard; her step great grandchildren, Haley, Ashley, & Clint Spesard; her brother, Lloyd (Betty) Netherton of Atlanta, GA; and her sisters, Thelma Schabowski of Westville & Ina (Don) Olds of Plant City, FL. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her brother-in-law, George Schabowski; and her niece, Julie Netherton Creola enjoyed being a farm wife and making a home for her family. She was a member of the Liberty Church & attended Indianola United Methodist Church. She was a Cubs fan, as well as, Illini Basketball fan. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, singing hymns, and attending all the activities at Gardenview Manor where she resided the last few years. She enjoyed being with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A celebration of Creolas life will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with George Desmond & David Almy officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-7pm, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola.
