Corey J. Mcguire

Corey J. McGuire, 33, of Danville, IL passed away at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL on June 29, 2022 at 6:35 PM.

Corey was born on June 2, 1989 the son of Edwin and Darlene (Gustafson) McGuire in Danville, IL.

Survivors include his fiance, Kimberly Youhas of Danville, IL, two children Maddox George and Madelyn Ann McGuire, his father, Edwin McGuire of Danville, IL, his mother, Darlene McGuire of Clinton, IL, one sister, Molly (Joseph) Sarther of Covington, IN, one brother, Jeff (Jennifer) McGuire of Fithian, his maternal grandmother, Sara (Bernie) Donahue of Champaign, IL, as well as many extended family members and friends. He held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.

Corey is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Marjorie McGuire and his maternal grandfather, Alvin Gustafson.

Corey attended Bismarck High School and DACC. He spent a lot of his younger years at the YMCA where his love of basketball and lifting weights started. He never knew a stranger and always made everyone feel important. Two things everyone always loved about Corey are his huge smile and worlds best hugs. He had a love for history and was always eager to learn about everything. He enjoyed documentaries, conspiracy theories, and knew the most random facts.

Kimberly and Corey were friends in high school where she had the biggest crush on him. Years later they reconnected. From there they helped each other grow into the happiest version of themselves. They built a beautiful life and family together. Corey was a big kid at heart and loved to play with his children. He loved teaching Maddox about animals, the outdoors, and of course basketball. His heart melted when they welcomed their daughter Madelyn. She inherited his infectious smile and calming presence. Both of his children meant the world to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Bill Fulton will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Coreys memory to the Education Fund for his children.
