Corba Iona Fowler, 89, of Urbana, formerly of Danville, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Vermilion Manor. She was born April 29, 1916 in Putnam County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late John S. and Pearl A. (Leadmon) Gibson. She married Arnold Clyde Fowler April 29, 1936 in Winfield, West Virginia. He preceded her in death August 26, 1965. Survivors include one son, Thomas (Jeanne) Fowler of Tipton, Indiana; two daughters, Shirley (Thomas Jr.) Wimmer of Urbana and Janetta (Bert) Nicholson of Danville; nine grandchildren, Joan Cushman, Theresa Wimmer, Tracy Chacon, Thomas Wimmer III, Tricia Fowler, John Fowler, Kristin Fowler, Paul Nicholson, and Robert Nicholson; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Wimmer, Thomas Wimmer IV, Sidney Wimmer, Bradyn Wimmer, and Troy Cushman; three step great-grandchildren, Matthew Renfrew, Reina Chacon, and Miguel Chacon; one brother, Homer Gibson of Milton, West Virginia, and one sister, Anna Mae Fletcher of South Point, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Herman Gibson and Haymer Gibson. Corba worked for Peterson- Puritan in Danville for 16 years, and then for the Spartan Detective Agency in Urbana for 15 years; retiring at the age of 79. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton. Corba enjoyed reading, travel, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
