Potomac- Constance "Connie" Sue Highfill, 61, of Potomac passed away at 8:05 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana. She was born on January 12, 1951 in Danville to Dallas and Dorothy Cox Denison. She married Mike Highfill on September 12, 1975 in Danville. He survives. Also surviving are her mother, Dorothy; two sons, Joel (Heather) Highfill of Lakemoor, IL and Zachary Highfill of Potomac; a sister, Karen (Dan) Thornsbrough of Georgetown; two brothers, Chuck (Maureen) Denison of Hutchison, KS and John (Kim) Denison of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Ashton, Bre-Anna, Kenneth, and Lexi; many special nieces and nephews; and her special puppy, Chewy "Chew Man". She was preceded in death by her father. Connie worked as a Production Scheduler at Easton Bell Sports for 10 years. She was very active with Potomac Church of Christ. She loved her work in the Youth Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and helping to organize dinners among other things. She was an avid volunteer for the Georgetown Fair and Fair Pageant, in which she served as the Assistant Pageant Advisor. Connie was the Director of the Independence Day Celebration Parade in Potomac, assisted Mike for 13 years with Little League Baseball, and loved to be in her flower garden. She also gave her time by being active with the Angel Tree Program and the Backpack Program at Potomac Grade School. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Connie will be missed by all who knew her and will be remembered as a strong woman with a big heart who fought hard in her battle with cancer. A service to celebrate the life of Connie Highfill will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Second Church of Christ in Danville. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 2, also at Second Church of Christ. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Connie's name may be made to the Potomac Church of Christ Youth Fund or the Georgetown Fair Association Scholarship Fund c/o Connie's Queens.
