Constance “Connie” Jean (Borsom) Almy, born October 13, 1947, passed away at home October 29, 2025. She was 78 years old. Connie was born in Hinsdale, IL, the daughter of Charles Hugh Borsom and Mollie (Everhard) Borsom. She was the older sister of 3 brothers.
Connie is survived by her husband David; her daughters Heather of Woodstock, IL, Heidi (Mike Goetting) of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Hope (Eric Gregson) of Newport NC; her grandsons Jason Goetting of Madison, WI, Tyler Goetting of Austin, TX and Gordon Venn of Woodstock, IL; her brothers Doug Borsom ( Margaret Bruell) of Pasadena CA and Bruce Borsom ( Cristina Borsom) of Broken Arrow OK, and her sister in law Geri Borsom of Phoenix, AZ; many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Mollie, and her brother Phil Borsom.
After high school Connie attended for one year at the University of Illinois where she met David Almy. The two were married the following year and settled in Indianola, IL. Connie raised 3 daughters. She also kept the books for the farm, took correspondence courses and was active in the Indianola United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the arts and attended performances and was an avid reader.
After completing her degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University, Connie started teaching in Georgetown. After earning her Masters in Special Education from the University of Illinois, she began teaching Special Education at Jamaica Junior High, eventually transitioning to English. Following her retirement, Connie volunteered her time tutoring people studying to take the GED. She was also a member of the Carroll Township board.
A Celebration of Connie’s life will be held Saturday November 8, 2025, at Indianola United Methodist Church 1 N. High Street Indianola, Illinois, 61850, at 12:00 pm. Matt Filicsky will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 10-12. Cremation will follow family has asked Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Houghton-Leasure Chapel 200 E West Street Georgetown Illinois to make arrangements.
