Connie Elizabeth Whitmer, age 88, went home to the Lord on February 9, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1936 in Gary, Indiana to Elizabeth Carter and Brandon Oldham. She married Melvin Whitmer on May 5, 1985 in Gurnee, IL.
She is survived by her sons James Meserole, Richard (Barbara) Stamer, Jr., and Paul Stamer; her daughter Denise (Michael) Lauher; daughter of the heart Kimberly Brazil; grandchildren Brandon, Chris, Brandie, Devon, Shaun, Josh, Zach, Melissa, Alex, Dorothy, Anna, Eleanor, Steven, Julianne, and Trevone; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother Larry (Diana) Oldham; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Mel in 2016, and one great-great grandchild.
Connie spent much of her life as a hairdresser, and one of her proudest moments was walking the stage to earn her degree and receiving her license to teach cosmetology. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Connie loved to volunteer at her church and throughout her community with Meals on Wheels and Senior Services.
Visitation will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Champaign, IL beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 preceding a 12 p.m. funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
