Constance Connie LaDean McGowen, age 74, of Williamsport, IN, formerly of Danville, Passed away at 2:10 pm EST on Monday, August 4, 2008. She was born October 10, 1933 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Earl and Adabell (Cox) Phelps. She married Forest Glen McGowen on July 18, 1952 in Potomac, IL. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1999. Connie is survived by three sons: Michael (Melody) McGowen of West Lebanon, IN, Douglas (Bonnie) McGowen of Williamsport, IN, Eric (Toni) McGowen of Williamsport, IN; one daughter: Kelly (John) Kay of Williamsport, IN; one brother: Kim Phelps of Georgetown; three sisters: Donna Linn, Sondra Swisher, and Becky Forsythe all of Danville; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Connie worked as a registered nurse at Home Hospital in Lafayette, IN and then at Provena in Danville until her retirement. She was an avid fan of NBA basketball, especially of the Indiana Pacers. Connie loved reading mystery books, doing crossword puzzles, and playing the piano. She was a member of the Wabash Valley Bible Baptist Church in Williamsport, IN. A celebration of life service for Connie McGowen will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor David Adams officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the funeral home.
