Colleen Louise Mercer, 52, of Danville, passed away at 2:03 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Colleen was born on December 27, 1953 in Danville, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Jackie (Stewart) Mercer. She is survived by her two brothers- Charles (Irene) Mercer of Oakwood and Stewart (Cindy) Mercer of Danville; four nieces- Danelle Williamson of Oakwood, Tia Phillips of Tilton, Sueanna Doggett of Oakwood, and Rebecca Fultz of Batestown; three nephews- Kristopher (Lisa) Mercer of Crown point, Indiana, Chase (Leslie) Mercer of Virginia, and Raymond Charles R.C. Mercer of New Richmond, Indiana; and nine great nieces and nephews. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters- Ellen and Bobette Mercer. Colleen graduated from Danville High School in 1971. After graduating she attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, where she obtained her degree in accounting in 1975. After school she opened Mercer Accounting, where she was owner and operator since 1975. Colleen attended Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved all animals and served for several years as the chairperson of the Vermilion County Humane Society. Colleen also loved her job and traveling with her friends. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Father Ted Pracz officiating.
