Clyde Busby, 94, of Oakwood, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Clyde was born on December 28, 1913 in Catlin, the son of Arthur and Ione (Finley) Busby. He married Mildred Rutkowski on April 24, 1937 in Steger, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 30, 2000. He is survived by his daughter- Suzie (Rod Kleiner) Hobick of Danville; two grandsons- Heath (Danae) Hobick of Oakwood and Justin (Heather) Hobick of Fishers, Indiana; four great-grandchildren- Brayden, Dalton, Brandt and Claire Hobick; one sister- Wilma Halls of Greenwood, Indiana; one niece- Laura Merrott of Richardson, Texas; one nephew- David Carter of San Jacinta, California; and a very dear and special friend - Hilda Church of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister- Louise Carter. Clyde attended Danville High School. He worked for several years at Sears as an independent plumbing and heating contractor. He also farmed for many years near Kickapoo. After retiring, he and Mildred spent the winter months in Gulfport, Mississippi, camping, playing cards with friends and site seeing. He enjoyed woodworking, summer cookouts and holiday get togethers with family and friends. Clyde had a strong interest in history and a remarkable recollection for dates and events. He could share stories of his childhood with amazing detail. Near and dear to his heart were his grandsons and great grandchildren who he was so proud of. A Celebration of the Life of Clyde Busby will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Dennis Divan officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 " 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
